collaborations with other artists & magazines/events my designs have been in

November/December 2006

Collaborated again with Nora of NYSF CityDolls for the two part "Dream Teams" article by Louise Fecher in Haute Doll Magazine.

Louise had recalled our work on the Catherine doll (below) and asked if we could do another collaboration for her article - Sure! Nora had a gorgeous blond Suzette she was working on and I had just found some fabulous embroidered antique looking silk at an IDEX show. We decided our doll would be a romantic heroine and I think we suceeded.

May 2006 (event) & Sept./Oct. 2006 (article)

Competed in the Miss Sydney World competition at the Tonner Convention in Denver, CO sponsored by Haute Doll Magazine. Worked with the wonderful repainter IsaBelle; she beautifully repainted a Shimmer Sydney, and after much thinking, I scalped and wigged the doll for a sleek look that would coorespond well with all three entry outfits. The outfit catergories were "Evening Gown", "Interview Suit" and "Regional Costume" (for which I designed a practical modern-day Vermont woman's everyday wear).

We did not place, but there was stiff competition so the satisfaction was in participating in such a neat event, and glad for the exposure it brings, especially as this will be our first chance to be in Haute Doll magazine!

(The images here were taken by me before the doll was shipped out, except the close-up one of Sydney's face which was taken by Isabelle - click thumbnails to see larger views and details)

March 2006

Three of my designs were photographed by the wonderful photographer Ernesto Padró-Campos for his article "Portrait of a Lady" in the final issue of "High Style Magazine" (pages 42-44) published by Reverie Publishing. This series of magazines was sold with a limited edition Tyler or Sydney doll from the Robert Tonner Doll Company.

(The thumbnail images are Ernesto's photos from the magazine - Used with permission - click on those images to see the pages I made for him to see how the outfits are worn. All three outfits now in private collections.)

September 2005

My very first collaboration/special commission was for Nora of NYSF CityDolls (here is her eBay "me page"). I was very excited to work with her as she is one of the repaint artists I greatly admire. She had an idea for doing a doll in the likeness of Catherne Zeta-Jones just as a new Zorro movie was coming out and wanted a costume similar to the one worn in the movie poster. As luck would have it, my sewing machine died and needed to be replaced mid-commission! The new one had the capiability of doing some embroidery stitches and I was able to embellish the corset in a way we hadn't even planned on - and with a little extra beading it turned out as a compliment her beautiful doll!
